Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's so long since I've posted. Life has been busy.... many ups and downs. Things have been hectic at work during December. Thank goodness all that craziness is finished now.... hehe, until the next Christmas season. What few readers I had before are probably gone by now. Oh well, I can start afresh again. ^_^ I think I've been stretching myself to thin on the internet.... I've joined many sites, forums etc. and it's hard to keep up. How do you do it?

My Christmas and New Years was pretty quiet. I spent the holidays with family. I rang in 2008 with Moet and Hypnotiq...... a nice combination. :D I got some rest and now it's back to work. Things are so slow at work... hence, I'm able to surf the net. I'm already looking forward to my next holiday. If only I knew when that would be..... it'd be great.

I promise to try not to be MIA for this year. Y'know, new year... new beginnings... starting fresh... I'll try my best to do more updates. Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! May you and your family be blessed with good luck, fortune and health in 2008.

Birthday Dinner

On Sunday, I went out for Japanese food at Marketplace. The occasion was my "almost birthday" dinner. Haha.... that's what my niece calls it. I decided to go out a couple days early because since I'll be working Tuesday, I doubt I'll have the time to go out. Anyways, it was just a small family dinner. The food was good, I had the grilled salmon. My parents had the Teriyaki Beef and Teriyaki Shrimp, T. had Sear Soy Steak, A. had Grilled Herb Stuffed Chicken, N. had the kids meal, T. (my niece) had the Fried Salmon Roll. Then we order assorted sushi platter for everyone to share! YUMMY.....

When we entered the restaurant, the waiter showed us to our table. I went straight to the table and didn't even notice who was sitting at the table beside us. After around 10 minutes of sitting there, A asked me if I saw who was sitting next to me. I said no and turned around to look.... OMG... I did a double take! It was Miss World 1993!! This is actually the second time I saw her, the first time was outside my parents store shortly after she won the Miss World title. Wow, it's been 14 years.... and she still looks the same as she did then. Haha... can't say the same thing for me .

I'm still here.....

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since my last entry. It's not that I've been particularly busy with anything specific, but I guess just going about everyday life just takes up a lot of the time. I've mostly been busy with work 6 days a week. So DULL and BORING.... but I can't complain because it makes a living!

Anyways, this is another short post again. Will update more soon...

Double Standards

Last night I was watching a TVB series where a guy was pursuing a girl who's seven years older. Later on, the guy's family starts saying that it's shameful or embarrassing if he does that and that's they hope he doesn't pick someone older than him. Yeah, the show I'm currently watching every night is La Femme Desperado. I'm talking about Raymond Lam and Melissa Ng's characters in the series.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see anything wrong with a guy liking a girl that's older than him. I think if they are ok with it, then it doesn't matter what others say (provided that they're both adults and not underage or anything). But with that being said, it really depends on the situation. If the guy was 18 and the girl was 25, then maybe it wouldn't work out because they would be in different stages in life. He would in school while she would be in the working world. Their values and priorities in life might be at different levels. But if the guy was 27 and the girl was 34, then there might be a better chance of it working out as they would both be in similar stages and situations in their lives. I do know couples where the guy is younger than the girl that are happily married. While I also know that not all of these younger guy/older girl relationships have a happy ending, I don't think it's right for society to have a double standard on this. Not all older guy/younger girl relationships work out either. Only the persons in the relationship should know whether their relationship will have a chance or not. Also, have you noticed that many shows/movies features actors with much younger actresses to play their girlfriend/wife roles?

Whew.... I'm finished!! I just had to get that off my mind. In case you're wondering, no, I've never been in that situation before but just feel it's unfair to judge a relationship based on what society dictates as "acceptable". There's no 100% guarantee on love and relationships.... success in anything we do only comes with hard work and persistence.

When I went to pick up my book I was told that not enough copies were sent and that there wasn't any assigned to me. I was disappointed, but the clerk was friendly enough to check the stock room. After a few minutes, she came back out with a HP book. Apparently, someone else had reserved a copy and was supposed to pick it up 2 hours ago but never showed. So, I finally got the book!! I'm on chapter 2 now.

I'm not one of the people who gets all excited about Fridays anymore, I'm more of a TGIS (thank god it's Saturday) kind of girl now. I miss just working 5 days a week and the more carefree days. I don't mean to complain, I'm happy with my work now. It's just that work has it's ups and downs. Sometimes it's so stressful that I want to pull out my hair and wonder what did I get myself into, but other times it's so rewarding that I'm grinning stupidly all day. I guess this is just one of those days I'm remembering the past and holding on to those memories. The weather is overcast and rainy today, maybe that's why I'm in such a pensive mood.

Other news, I just got a call from the bookstore, I can collect my copy of Harry Potter tomorrow. They did come through and got the book on time.

When I woke up this morning and tried to speak, I sounded so horrible.... all raspy and hoarse. Now I can either whisper or speak very deeply, my normal voice have completely gone into hiding. It does sound funny though when I try to speak because, depending on the syllable, it comes out as a whisper or a deep raspy voice. This combination in a sentence is horrible but will evoke an unexpected giggle from whoever hears it. I wonder if this is how guys going through puberty feels with their voice cracking unexpectedly? I plan to only whisper, if possible, for the rest of the day or until my voice comes back. Oh, please don't put me in any situations when I have to shout!! Some people were saying to drink honey and lime juice mixed together with some water, I will try it when I reach home.

The final Harry Potter book will be coming out this weekend in the US. I wish I could be there to get a copy, but now I have to wait until the local bookstore gets it . It will probably be weeks after before it reaches, but I asked them to reserve a copy for me so I don't have to worry about it running out. I can't believe the last book in the series will be out. It seemed not so long ago I was reading Book 1 and then the first HP movie came out later on.
